RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 to Ethernet and fibre.
ORing IDS serial device servers connect legacy serial equipment such as energy meters, weighbridges, barcode scanners, old PLCs and instruments to an Ethernet or fibre network. The server wraps the RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 data in TCP or UDP, acts as a virtual COM port on a PC, or converts Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP so a SCADA can poll the devices over the plant LAN.
The range covers one, two and four port units. The IDS-312L is a slim single-port server for a single meter or PLC, the IDS-322 a two-port unit, and the IDS-4312D a four-port server with dual Ethernet for redundancy. Each port is software-selectable between RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 with isolation on selected models, and the units mount on DIN-rail with industrial DC input and wide operating temperature.
Indian energy management, building automation and retrofit buyers choose by the number of serial ports, the protocol (transparent TCP, UDP, Modbus gateway) and whether dual Ethernet or fibre is needed. State the serial standard, baud rate, cable distance to the devices and the DC supply in the panel so the right IDS model is quoted.
Elume sells ORing serial device servers (ids) on order: send the part numbers or the specification and the quantity, and we come back with one GST-ready quote, usually within a working day. Bulk and project quantities welcome; delivery across India. See the whole ORing range we quote on the ORing page, or the full catalogue on ORing's own site.
The series asked for most. Any other ORing part number is quoted the same way.
Yes. IDS device servers include a Modbus gateway mode in which the SCADA or PLC polls Modbus TCP on the Ethernet side and the server talks Modbus RTU to the serial slaves. This is the usual way to bring energy meters onto a plant SCADA.
A standard RS-485 segment supports up to 32 unit loads, more with low-load transceivers, over about 1,200 m at low baud rates. Split large meter counts across the ports of a two- or four-port IDS to keep polling fast.
Yes. The virtual COM driver supplied with the IDS presents each remote serial port as a local COM port on the PC, so existing software that expects a serial connection works unchanged over the network.
