WALL IE is the Helmholz industrial NAT gateway and firewall that sits between a machine network and the production network. It lets every machine keep the same internal IP addresses while appearing on the plant network under unique addresses, and its packet filter decides which devices and ports can talk in each direction. It is configured once at commissioning and runs unattended on DIN-rail.
The WALL IE (700-860-WAL01) has one WAN and three LAN ports at 100 Mbit/s, NAT with Basic NAT, NAPT and port forwarding, bridge mode with packet filter, MAC black- and whitelisting, 802.1X, DHCP and DNS services and two digital inputs. The WALL IE PLUS (700-862-WAL01) has eight configurable ports up to 1 Gbit/s for larger cells. The WALL IE Compact (700-863-WAL01) has one WAN and one LAN port at 100/1000 Mbit/s in a small housing for single machines.
Indian OEMs and plant engineers use WALL IE to install identical machines on one network without re-addressing, to separate OT from IT and to meet customer security requirements. Specify the number of ports and speed, the NAT or bridge mode intended, the firewall rules expected, and whether configuration import for series machines is needed.

Series machines are usually built with the same internal IP addresses. With WALL IE each machine keeps its internal addresses and is mapped to unique plant addresses, so multiple identical machines can be connected to one network without changing any PLC or HMI settings.
Yes. In bridge mode the WALL IE works as a Layer 2 switch with the packet filter active, so traffic between machine and plant is filtered by IP address, port, protocol and MAC address without address translation.
No. WALL IE is a NAT gateway and firewall. For remote maintenance over the internet, pair it with a Helmholz REX router and the myREX24 portal, which handle the VPN connection.
