Ethernet to MPI and PROFIBUS: programme, configure and visualise S7 PLCs over the network.
Helmholz NETLink gateways give an S7 PLC that only has an MPI, PPI or PROFIBUS port a connection to Ethernet. The gateway plugs into the bus connector of the CPU and presents the PLC on the network over RFC 1006 (ISO on TCP), so STEP 7, TIA Portal, HMIs, SCADA, OPC servers and remote-maintenance routers can reach older S7-300 and S7-400 CPUs without changing the controller.
The NETLink PRO Compact (700-884-MPI21) is the current plug-format gateway with MPI/PPI/PROFIBUS from 9.6 kbit/s to 12 Mbit/s, up to 16 TCP connections and 32 bus connections, electrical isolation, a web interface for configuration and the option to be powered from the CPU or an external 24 V DC supply. The NETLink PRO PoE (700-881-MPI21) is the Power over Ethernet variant. Earlier NETLink USB and WLAN variants served the same function for USB-connected PGs and wireless access.
Indian plants use NETLink gateways to connect legacy S7-300 and S7-400 machines to new Ethernet HMIs, MES systems and remote-access routers. Specify the CPU type and bus (MPI or PROFIBUS), the baud rate, how many simultaneous connections are needed, whether the gateway is to be CPU-powered or externally powered and the software that will connect (STEP 7, TIA, HMI driver, OPC).
Elume sells Helmholz netlink gateways on order: send the part numbers or the specification and the quantity, and we come back with one GST-ready quote, usually within a working day. Bulk and project quantities welcome; delivery across India. See the whole Helmholz range we quote on the Helmholz page, or the full catalogue on Helmholz's own site.
The series asked for most. Any other Helmholz part number is quoted the same way.
Yes. The panel's S7 Ethernet driver connects to the NETLink PRO Compact over RFC 1006, and the gateway forwards to the CPU on MPI or PROFIBUS. The panel and gateway must be in the same IP subnet and the gateway needs a free bus address.
Not necessarily. The NETLink PRO Compact can draw power from the CPU through the bus connector; an external 24 V DC supply is optional. The PoE variant takes power from the Ethernet switch.
The NETLink PRO Compact handles up to 16 TCP connections on the Ethernet side and up to 32 MPI or PROFIBUS connections, which covers a programming PC, an HMI, a SCADA driver and a remote router at the same time.
