TRABTECH is Phoenix Contact's surge protection programme covering every line that enters a building or cabinet: mains power, photovoltaic DC, measurement and control signals, telecom and Ethernet data. Devices are classed as type 1 lightning current arresters, type 2 surge arresters and type 3 device protection, and are mostly pluggable with status indication so a spent arrester can be replaced without disturbing the wiring.
FLASHTRAB is the type 1 and type 1+2 family using triggered spark gaps for lightning current at the service entrance. VALVETRAB is the type 2 varistor family, with SEC compact 12 mm per-channel versions and VAL-SPP for PV systems. PLUGTRAB covers type 3 device protection and PT-IQ pluggable protection for control circuits. TERMITRAB complete is 3.5 mm wide protection for measurement and control signals including Ex, and DATATRAB protects Ethernet up to 10 Gbit/s.

Type 1 FLASHTRAB at the main incomer where direct lightning current can enter, type 2 VALVETRAB in sub-distribution boards and control panels, and type 3 PLUGTRAB close to sensitive equipment. Many sites use a combined type 1+2 unit at the incomer.
TERMITRAB complete or PLUGTRAB PT-IQ modules sized for the loop voltage protect both ends of the loop. Tell us the signal voltage, whether the loop is Ex and the number of channels so the right module is quoted.
Yes. VALVETRAB SEC, PLUGTRAB and TERMITRAB plugs lift out of their base and a new plug is pressed in, with the wiring untouched. Status indication shows which plug has reached end of life.
