Serial (Modbus RTU, RS-232/485) and CAN devices onto PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, PROFIBUS or Modbus TCP.
Anybus Communicator is a DIN rail protocol converter that lets a machine or device with a serial, CAN or Modbus interface appear as a native node on a PLC network. One side connects to the device, the other to the control network, and the Communicator maps registers between them without any change to the device firmware. It is the standard answer when an old machine, meter or sensor must join a PROFINET, EtherNet/IP or Modbus TCP line.
The current generation runs on the Anybus NP40 processor and comes in controller-to-controller versions (for example Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP to PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT or PROFIBUS) and device-to-controller versions with a web-based configurator and cycle times up to ten times faster than the first generation. The Classic Communicator for RS-232/422/485 and the Communicator CAN remain available with the Windows Anybus Configuration Manager. ATEX Zone 2 and Class I Division 2 variants exist for hazardous areas.
Indian buyers state the device-side protocol (Modbus RTU, custom ASCII, CAN, CANopen), the PLC-side network, the data size in bytes each way and whether the device is a Modbus server or needs a request-response script. This fixes the exact Communicator article number.
Elume sells Anybus anybus communicator gateways on order: send the part numbers or the specification and the quantity, and we come back with one GST-ready quote, usually within a working day. Bulk and project quantities welcome; delivery across India. See the whole Anybus range we quote on the Anybus page, or the full catalogue on Anybus's own site.
The series asked for most. Any other Anybus part number is quoted the same way.
Yes. The Communicator Modbus RTU to PROFINET gateway polls the meter over RS-485 and presents the registers as PROFINET I/O data. The PLC sees a GSDML device and reads kWh, voltage and current as process data.
Next-generation units have a built-in web page for mapping Modbus registers to network I/O; no software install is needed. Classic serial and CAN units use the free Anybus Configuration Manager on Windows over USB.
No. Anybus Communicators are one-time hardware purchases with the configuration tools included at no extra cost. Firmware updates are published by HMS free of charge, and the web or Windows configurator needs no activation key.
