What is the difference between FR and FRLS house wires?

FR (Flame Retardant) insulation resists catching fire and slows flame spread. FRLS (Flame Retardant Low Smoke) does the same but also emits far less smoke and corrosive halogen gas when exposed to fire. For enclosed homes, apartments and commercial spaces, FRLS is the safer choice because reduced smoke gives occupants more time to escape.

Which gauge wire should I use for an AC or geyser?

For most household geysers and 1 to 1.5 ton split ACs, 4 sq mm copper wire is the standard, safe choice. Larger 2 ton or higher ACs and the main incoming run usually need 6 sq mm. Always size for the appliance's actual load and run length, and consult your electrician for long cable runs where voltage drop matters.
